The New York Mets 2012 Game Recap: Mets Defeat Braves 4-2

Greetings one and all and happy Easter! I fell asleep after work and missed the entire game. It’s stupid to miss these day games. Hopefully it won’t happen again!

I did wake up to a pleasant surprise….the Mets beat the Braves by a score of 4-2 on a cold and windy day at Citi Field!

Here are the good things that happened

R.A Dickey began his 2012 campaign by registering his first win of the season. Dickey went six innings giving up 5 hits while striking out three and walking four Braves batters. He gave up both of the Braves runs. Well done Mr. Dickey!

The Mets bullpen record three scoreless innings and that is a good sign. Frank Francisco picked up his second save of the new season.

Lucas Duda hit his first two home runs of the season yesterday. This was also his first multi-homerun game of his Major League Career.

David Wright went three for five that included a home run. He is on a tear.

Newly promoted center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis got his first two Major League hits. Well done Captain Kirk!

Jason Bay got his first hit of the season.

Daniel Murphy is still alive after consecutive starts at second base.

Here are the not so good things that happened

Josh Thole had his first passed ball of the season.

Ike Davis is still hitless and struck out twice.

The Mets stranded 12 men on base with eight of those men in scoring position.

I know it’s still way too early to be getting excited by the Metropolitans early success but it’s nice to be able to say “the undefeated and first place New York Mets”.
