The New York Mets 2012 Game Recap: Mets 7 Rockies 5

Yesterday was Mets starting pitcher Dillon Gee’s birthday and he celebrated it in fine style by picking up his second win of the season against the Rockies….Gee struck out seven and only walked two Rockies hitters.

Late last night I decided to put Lucas Duda in the lineup on my fantasy baseball team and he responded with a tater and four RBI’s on the night….I wish the rest of my team would have done the same 🙂

Three more hits for Ruben Tejada…..he’s really getting it done so far this season.

Mike Baxter had another pinch hit….it’s a tough job but he seems to do this quite well.

David Wright and Daniel Murphy each added three hits of their own….our two through five hitters are doing fine….if Ike Davis ever gets going we’ll have our own version of murderer’s row 🙂

Johan Santana takes the hill tonight and hopefully I’ll be able to watch at least some of it!

The New York Mets 2012 Game Recap: Mets 6 Braves 1

One of the best ways to get over a beating is to deliver one of your own….at least in sports that is. The Mets got back on track last night with a win over the Atlanta Braves by a score of 6-1.

Dillon Gee picked up the first win of his 2012 campaign and Ike Davis hit a three run shot to seal the deal. Jason Bay also added a dinger of his own as well as making a home run saving catch.

The bullpen came in and pitched two innings of shutout ball to preserve the win for Gee.

David Wright added another hit last night and has now hit safely in each of his seven games this season. He’s on some kind of tear. I hope he’s able to keep this up.

Ruben Tejada also added a hit and an RBI of his own and the more I see of this kid the more I like. He’s going to be some kind of special player.

I still can’t believe the Braves intentionally walked David Wright to face Ike Davis and boy did Ike make Manager Fredi Gonzalez regret that decision.

Gee pitched terrific last night giving up one run on four hits while striking out five Braves hitters. He also gave up one walk on the night. From what I’ve been able to read Gee had good command of his pitches all night long. That’s good to see and I hope for him that he continues to demonstrate that last year was no fluke.

The Mets need a catcher because Thole and Nikeas aren’t the answer. Neither of them can hit and neither of them play very good defense.

All in all I’m one very happy Mets fan…the Metropolitans are off to a flying start and I’m liking what I’m seeing so far!

I’ll leave you with a video of the grab Jason Bay made last night….

Gee, You Pitch Terrific!!!

The 2011 New York Mets season has certainly been interesting…..at least so far. From the uncertainty as to who will be in a Mets uniform after the trading deadline and Fred Wilpon’s not so nice comments regarding some of his players, the injuries and everything else we Mets fans have surely seen better days (think 1986).

Enter Dillon Gee. He has been a breath of fresh air and a joy to watch during this weird and wacky season. When he pitches the Mets don’t lose…..at least so far we haven’t. Without his massive contributions I doubt I would even care any longer about this years Mets but the dude has me fired up and looking forward to better days ahead!

Here’s what Gee has done so far;

So far so good. Lets hope he keeps it up!!
